From what I remember, it needed to be cleaned OFTEN, too function properly!! Very high maintance!! I would have bought one, when they first came out, but they got such bad reviews, I decided to pass. _________________ Remington 597M Simmons 4-12x40 AO

So now I have the 22 WMR fever. Does anyone know just who all makes a 22mag in semi? I know Remmy has the 597, and there are a few 10/22 mags out there for a price, but who else??? _________________ Jet noise: The sound of freedom!

Hag,
It's a lot easier to find a lever action or bolt action .22 Mag. I know Henry makes a couple different models of lever actions.
Plus, it's a pretty expensive round, about like the .17HMR. _________________ Rob

I'd love to see one of these in action, even if it isn't available in 22WMR.

Ammo cost isn't an issue with me, I just want a fun rifle. And now with CCI's 30gr v-max bullet in 22mag, it may very well retire my 17hmr _________________ Jet noise: The sound of freedom!

The ballistics are good and the terminal energy is a lot better... but what about accuracy at longer ranges?
I bet the .17 has it all over the .22 WMR at 150- 200 yards. _________________ Rob

Yeah, I can't speak for the accuacy, since 1) I have never shot a 22mag, and 2) I have NEVER been impressed with the overall accuracy of my hummer. It is minute-of-prairiedog, no more, no less. _________________ Jet noise: The sound of freedom!

Uh Oooohhh .. its happening .. I have been saying that the 17 While a blast to shoot .. for many of us will find out that we dont really have a need for that gun ... Other than to talk about it .. It really doesnt serve a purpose hunting wise for me here in TN .. The 22lr will do everything I need it to. Only thing the hummer has drown blood on is tree rats and a feral cat ... sorry Weldon. Plus the 22mag i would feel more comfortable taking out to use on yotes ... I would like to see the hummer with those 25gr v-maxes .. that might change my mind but then again it would probably be exact numbers as the 30gr 22mag ..... _________________ God bless the troops |

Yup. It's happening.
BTW, I myself, personally, and not to be dissin' anyone here, but me, myself, I would only shoot an animal as big as a coyote with a .22 magnum if I had it in my hands, and I didn't have my .223 or .243 in my hands, and the coyote ran out in front of me and yelled "Shoot me! Shoot me!" _________________ Rob

Just remember, when I got my hummer, there were no 30 gr v-max bullets for the 22mag. _________________ Jet noise: The sound of freedom!
